The picture shows guests (1) entertained by "Tora-tora (tiger-tiger)", a popular game played at Enseki (banquet) between Maiko (7) and Taikomochi (8) across "Byobu" (H) (traditional folding screen) by posing as any one of the three - a hunter, a tiger and an old woman - so that both can be seen by the guests (1), in this case, with the former (7) posing as a tiger and the latter (8) as an old women, who is therefore the loser of the game.

"Tora-tora" is similar to another Japanese game called "Janken" (paper-scissors-stone) which is played, for example, between two persons using their hands to represent "paper", "scissors" and "stone" - the paper wins over the stone, which wins over the scissors", which win over the paper. In the "Tora-tora" game, likewise, the tiger wins over the old woman, who wins over the hunter, who wins over the tiger.

The picture shows guests entertained by "Tosenkyo", a game played at Enseki (banquet) by throwing an opened "Sen-su" (Japanese tradition fan) at the target placed at a distance.

Maiko (7) with "Darari-no-obi (F) (long draping sash) on, sitting in her knees, is throwing an opened fan (I) at the target (J) placed on the box (K) set at a given distance from the player position.

.

Maiko (7) with her face (L) painted in white has lipstick put only on her lower lip while in her early apprentice stage, but after her one year training as an apprentice, she has her upper lip also slightly painted for her sexual appeal.

The game of Tosenkyo (fan throwing) is played for competition with the object of not just hitting the target (J) with an opened fan (I), but attaining a good shape of the fan (I) and target (J) thereafter created as a whole, which the judge evaluates by scoring.
